This weekend, Dr Marjorie Cross is taking part in the Mother’s Day Classic — a nationwide fun run and walk raising vital funds for breast and ovarian cancer research.

Like many of us, Dr Cross has seen first-hand the impact breast cancer can have on individuals, families, and entire communities.

She’s running to raise awareness and to support ongoing research — and she’d love your support too.

You can sponsor her here:

🌸 A Message from Dr Cross

“I wish more people understood a few key facts about breast cancer prevention and detection:

1️⃣ Alcohol is the biggest risk factor for developing breast cancer — more so than family history. It’s followed closely by obesity and living a sedentary lifestyle.

2️⃣ Breast screening doesn’t prevent cancer. It simply helps catch it early, giving us the best shot at a successful outcome.

3️⃣ While family history and genetics do play a role, they’re not as significant as once thought. Most breast cancers occur in people with no family history.”

If you’re in a position to donate, please consider supporting Dr Cross in her run. Every dollar goes towards life-saving research and helping improve the lives of those impacted by breast and ovarian cancers.

From all of us at Bungendore Medical Centre, thank you for your support
