Lozang, originally from New Zealand, relocated to Bungendore with his Australian wife and young children in 2022. His early years were spent working alongside his father in the construction industry, where he honed his skills in building and renovation.
Following this, Lozang immersed himself in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, dedicating years to study and meditation. This profound journey is reflected in his calm, relaxed demeanor, which many find approachable and friendly.
In 2009, Lozang pivoted to nursing, driven by a desire to practice kindness while earning a living. His career began in a bustling Auckland hospital, where he cared for elderly patients with a wide range of conditions, including pre- and post-operative orthopaedic cases, wound care, and various cardiac, pulmonary, and mental health issues. This demanding environment proved to be an invaluable learning experience.
In 2014, Lozang moved to India and spent over two years there, including time in Nepal. He worked in an orphanage for children with HIV, serving as the primary nurse responsible for their care. Additionally, he provided healthcare to approximately 200 primary school children, offering vaccinations, minor surgeries, and general care to those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Upon returning to New Zealand in 2016, Lozang took a year off to care for his newborn son before resuming work at Nelson Hospital. Though less hectic than Auckland, Nelson Hospital was still fast-paced, and Lozang worked primarily in the medical ward, gaining experience with a diverse patient population. He also gained experience in orthopaedic and ICU wards, further expanding his skill set.
In 2022, Lozang and his family moved to Australia, where he joined the team at Bungendore Medical Centre. Since then, he has continued to advance his knowledge, completing extensive courses in immunisation for healthcare providers, wound care, and general healthcare planning.
Outside of work, Lozang enjoys mountain biking, a hobby he embraced in New Zealand and continues to pursue in Australia. He has also taken up paragliding. Balancing a busy family life with two young children, Lozang finds solace in daily meditation and family walks in nature. He values the opportunity to meet new people and appreciates the skillful, supportive, and friendly staff at Bungendore Medical Centre.
