Why a 20-Minute Appointment Could Save Your Life This Heart Week
Heart disease remains a leading cause of death in Australia, yet many of the risks—like high blood pressure and cholesterol—often have no symptoms at all. This is why Heart Week (4–10 May 2026) is so important for our local community.
At Bungendore Medical Centre, we are passionate about preventative health. A Heart Health Check is a dedicated consultation where your GP assesses your risk of a heart attack or stroke over the next five years. During the check, we will:
- Measure your blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
- Check your cholesterol.
- Discuss your lifestyle, including diet and exercise habits.
- Create a personalised plan to keep your heart strong.
Are you eligible?
If you are aged 45 years and over (or 30 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples) and do not already have heart disease, you are eligible for a Medicare-subsidised Heart Health Check.
Take Action Today:
- Calculate your risk: Visit the Heart Foundation website to learn more about the “Never Miss a BEAT” campaign.
- Book an appointment: Use our Online Booking Portal or call us on (02) 6238 1417 to secure a time.
Your heart works hard for you every day—take 20 minutes this week to check in on it.
